John A. Dutton, Ph.D, Chairman and President, Prescient Weather; CEO, The World Climate Service.

After a career in academic atmospheric science and academic administration at Penn State, Dr. Dutton’s main focus now is on the analysis and mitigation of weather and climate risk in both private and public endeavors, including agriculture, energy, transportation, recreation, and commodity and derivative trading.  Along with colleagues in Prescient Weather, he offers experience and capability in using climatology and computer forecasts of weather and climate variability to create probabilistic predictions and scenarios as inputs for corporate decision systems and strategic planning.  Dr. Dutton also has considerable experience in the intersection of science and public policy, including activities of National Research Council, the National Weather Service, the national space science program, aviation and weather, and other environmental issues.
Jeremy D. Ross, Ph.D, Chief Scientist, Prescient Weather; Lead Forecaster, The World Climate Service.

Dr. Ross has more than 15 years of experience researching and developing weather and climate models and innovative climate and weather risk products for energy, agriculture, retail, transportation, and the commodity markets.  He was previously employed as Vice President of Weather Research and Operations for Storm Exchange, Chief Scientist for Weather Ventures Ltd, and Manager of Weather Research and Development for ZedX Inc.  The common objective of these companies was developing new strategies and technology to minimize weather and climate risks.  Dr. Ross has broad knowledge of the academic and private sectors, and that insight combined with extensive technical and analytical skills facilitates rapid development of innovative science for weather and climate risk management.  Dr. Ross obtained his B.S, M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in meteorology from The Pennsylvania State University in 1999, 2002, and 2005.
Richard P. James, Ph.D, Senior Scientist, Prescient Weather and The World Climate Service.

Dr. James has a background in meteorological research, specializing in the high-resolution modeling of convective storms and in the application of modern meteorological datasets to problems of weather and climate risk management.  He was previously employed as Senior Meteorologist for Storm Exchange and as an independent equities trader.  Dr. James has highly developed technical skills focused on the application of scientific innovation to weather-sensitive decisions, and he benefits from cross-disciplinary knowledge of scientific meteorology and finance.  Dr. James received his B.A. degree in natural sciences from Cambridge University in 1999, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from The Pennsylvania State University in 2001 and 2009.
